This year the annual two day 2008 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer was held here in the D.C. area on 05-03 to 05/04. This two day event is held every year the D.C. area participants walk 39.3 mile to help raise money for research to find a cure for and to raise awareness of Breast Cancer.
The Avon Walk Washington, D.C. takes the walkers from the heart of our nation’s capital where they witness celebrated symbols of patriotism, walk along the trendy streets of Georgetown and down the sidewalks through leafy suburbs of Bethesda through undiscovered neighborhoods.
The sights and sounds of this Avon Walk never fail to inspire all of us raising awareness and funds to battle one of breast cancer’s hardest hit areas.
On the second day of the walk the morning of 05/04/2008 the crew of E720 A-Shift (Capt. Redding, F3 Staub, F2 Wilkes) having a personal connection with this disease decided to provide needed support and encouragement to the walkers as they met this challenge. The crew of E720 met with and gave words of thanks, encouragement, provided first aid supplies and support to the many participants as the walk progressed through Bethesda.
The A-Shift crew of E720 would like to again thank of the walkers of the event for their courage and commitment to this worthy cause.
